Experimental Design Brands (NIRS)
Free Online NIRS fNIRS Course:
English
In this experimental design, versions of a generic cell phone will be presented to the subject. The versions presented will have the manufacturer's brand as the only difference. Cortical hemodynamic activity will be recorded through near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) while each version of the mark is presented.
In this experimental design, each subject will be his own control. For this, the hemodynamic response will be compared between the following conditions:
1) Most famous cell phone brand today (MC1),
2) Mobile phone brand less famous today (MC2),
3) Brand not associated with cell phone (MNC),
4) Unbranded (SM).
The region of interest is the prefrontal cortex, due to its known participation in cognitive-emotional processing. The region corresponding to the bilateral primary visual cortex will be measured to be used as a filter of the prefrontal cortex, considering that the 4 conditions present a small image (Brand) that differs between them.
Methodology:
The subject is placed in a comfortable environment without distractions.
The commands will be presented on a screen.
The sequence of images from conditions 1 to 4 will be randomized.
Each condition will be displayed 10 times.
Each version presented remains on the screen for 10 seconds, after which time the screen is white again for 20 seconds (period in which the hemodynamic response is expected to decrease - baseline).
Expected results:
It is expected that the prefrontal cortex presents a greater hemodynamic response for condition MC1 in relation to all other conditions that the response in MC2 is superior to MNC and SM.
Desenho experimental marcas (NIRS)
